Account cookies

When you sign in, bykgeo_access supports account access for up to one hour and bykgeo_refresh supports session renewal for up to seven days. Both are Secure, HttpOnly cookies with SameSite=Lax. They support the account service you request. Logging out clears them. Blocking them in your browser can prevent account features working.

Guest ratings

Submitting a guest collection rating creates bykgeo_visitor, a random browser identifier kept for up to one year to recognise your vote and discourage repeated voting. It is hashed in the ratings service. Ordinary browsing does not create it. An existing identifier is used when retrieving your votes. Clearing this cookie may stop your browser recognising an earlier rating; it does not erase the stored vote.

YouTube is your choice

On the Films page, clicking a film plays it in the preview box. “Behind the film” opens the story and a player without autoplay. Players do not load just from browsing the page. Studio previews use a separate “Load YouTube video” button. Loading connects to Google and may disclose your IP address, device and viewing information and allow cookies or similar storage for playback and Google’s purposes. The player uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. See Google’s privacy notice.

The choice applies to that player while it is open and is not saved as ongoing permission. “Unload YouTube video”, closing the viewer or leaving the page stops that player. This cannot undo information already sent or delete storage set by Google. You can instead follow the external YouTube link.

Other preferences

The decorative cursor and page entrance effects respect your device’s reduced-motion preference and do not store a cookie. The website does not add an advertising or analytics tag or a separate video-consent cookie. Hosting and video providers can process technical information as described in the privacy notice.
